France Rocked!

We're home and trying to recover, but the trip was fantastic. We managed to make it home only an hour or so late, and with only one missing bag. Naturally, that's the bag with most of the gifts in it. Ah, well. At least the folks at baggage services have found it and we should see it Monday. I think it just wanted another day in Amsterdam. Who can blame it, really?

I know I promised that I would post pix and stories while I was on the trip, but, really, I was too busy taking the pictures and living the stories. I make a new promise that I will post the pictures and stories over the next several weeks.

For now, though, here are a few pics to whet your appetite:

First up: the cheese monger at the (small, I am told) Tuesday street market in Laval.

And another of some flowers outside of the chateau in Mayenne:

Stay tuned!

We're in France!

Finally, our delayed honeymoon has arrived!

After something like 16 hours of travel we were picked up at the train station by our new friends (the father of the bride whose wedding we are also here for) and after a nice lunch they brought us to the beautiful converted farmhouse/manor that we'll be staying at.

After a much needed nap, we had our first (of many, I hope) great French meal. For me: wine, salmon carpaccio, bacon-wrapped rabbit with seasonal vegetables, followed by frest strawberries and lemon sorbet. Hard to beat!

Some pictures of the (for lack of a better word) hotel. As usual, click for the big picture.

It was overcast and drizzling a bit, so the pictures are a little dark, but here is my morning cafe au lait.

The Manor House:

And the little chapel:

Until later, I think it's time for a little exploring. And maybe some more wine.
